I’ve been doing the Heyna’s open mic and the first time I did it Gary Hood told me that what I did was good but “where’s the goofy, funny stuff”. So next time I come with the funny, goofy, owner says, “Thats cool and all but I want to see you do a tight five”. So today I come with a tight five and Gary says, “That’s good the puns and all that but do the witty stuff” I did that I did that last time and the owner told me to do a tight five. “Well you got to do the stuff you would to for an audition”. That is what I did. “Well I don’t want to bust your chops.”
I love comedy and I love doing jokes but I hate being directed back and forth for every little thing. He says I do great at open mics, that’s because no one is telling me do this do that I do what I want and that’s what I’ll do from now on and if I don’t get that guest spot then I don’t get it. I’m not getting a comedy boob job for work. Ala Naural.

It was a fun time in the motherland. My wife and I got to visit for 12 days during the Thanks giving holiday. We had to bring along my niece for the plane rides it was scary but out of most kids she was well behaved and carried her own bag. That’s good for a three year-old. She all sung I like to move it, move it song as well as we are family, over and over.
My wife was so excited to go to New York and Central Park, but when we got to central park it was cold, I was in a bad mood and all the areas of tourist intrest were under renovation.
I got to see my uncles, my dad and step mom. I went to my dad’s church. It was interesting. I’m not a big church kind of guy. They had security and guys with guns. I don’t want to get in the middle of a shoot out during communion. I’m not a let’s have church in a tent kind of person, but it was too fancy for my taste.
Man, my wife was originally slow with getting on the train thing. If you don’t know in a city with transportation you are at whim of the conductor or driver. Once he closes the doors you have to wait til the next one comes. That might be a while so you need to run if you swipe your metro card and here a train. But she got better.
I got to go up at The New York Comedy Club it was good.
I ended up getting a sommons for spitting on the subway. That was fun.
Video to come.

So I haven’t done a show in a while and I’m happy to be doing another. To think last week I was hating my comedy and was so depressed about it. How wierd the human mind is. It all started with Friday’s Late Show at the Westend Comedy theater. I got to do about 18min most was imprompt to crowd work. It was the most fun as of yet on stage. Here that set.
Tonight I have an open mic at the Improv, though it’ll be the third one I’ve done there, I don’t want to do bad. But I don’t want to worry cause it’s not like they are going to have me go up regularly. I’m going to treat it like a show/ open mic, a little bit of exploration but professional. What’s on the list right now:
movie
crowd work
ghost
limos
journal of stds
porch monkey
crooked cops
Like anyone but me and michelle knows what any of that means.
Oh, also I’m in talks with the president of Barking Spoon Productions about getting my own show (by the way that’s me). I want to do a videocast of ideas that are hard to do on stage. I a show called…say…The Josh Weatherspoon show. It would be 5-10min long once a month I want to start it in Jan and go through August, in a let’s say season fashion. That way I can think up of more crap and I will be able to get this small idea to materialize into something.
Well go to to go my work mac has rebooted.

So Dustin called and asked me if I wanted to host hyena’s again. I did want to at first cause I was going to go up at the backdoor and take it easy and be home by 10. By I didn’t want to pass the oppertunity because he many not ask again if I pass it. So I did it and it was good I was tired but it was good. I hosted the second show, Tom did the first. His did not go so well, unresponsive crowd.

Well this week I lost the first round of a comedy contest to a person who talked about her abortion for 5 mins. That was a waste. No offence but come on really that is going to be valid of a prize. Anyone can just shock people. Now a days everone thinks comedy is suppose to be like Jackass or Dave Attell. Both funny but comedy can’t just be Fart, molester, and dead baby jokes. That’s the knews you can be shock every day at 10pm if you want to hear about rape and abortion. How about we use our minds.
Shock comedy is not where the future or money is not unless your are very very clever. No one wants to listen to that stuff of 45-60 on a weekend. It get old, trust me.
